[Warning] Household Plastic is Causing CANCER!
Imagine: you fired up the grill and are enjoying a BBQ with your entire family.
Your spouse… your kids… and all your grandkids are using plastic plates and forks, and Styrofoam cups for juice and soda.
It seems harmless enough… but it’s not.
Because all of those disposable plates, cups, and utensils are LOADED with a dangerous toxin that causes CANCER.
Our government has known about the risk for YEARS – and kept ALL of us in the dark.
The plastic ingredient styrenecan be found countless commonplace items – everything from disposable tableware, fiberglass plastic, Styrofoam, rubber, insulation, and other types of packaging.
It’s everywhere. And it’s making us sick.
A study by Aarhus University in Denmark looked at the rate of acute myeloid leukemia in more than 70,000 people.
This rare form of leukemia, specifically associated with styrene exposure, should only occur in 10 patients for a population that size.
Instead, it was occurring at nearly THREE TIMES that rate.
What’s more? The research found a 5x increased risk for a specific type of nasal cancer caused by styrene.
In response, the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has upgraded styrene from being “possibly carcinogenic” to being “probably carcinogenic” to humans.
Seems pretty obvious, right? How about DEFINITELY carcinogenic?
And the alarm should have been sounded LONG ago.
The IARC has been analyzing the risk of styrene use ever since the 1970s, when there was a spike in leukemia among rubber industry workers in the U.S.
At the time, it wasn’t possible to determine which chemical was causing these workers to develop leukemia.
Then, in 2011, the IARC discovered that styrene was the culprit.
That year, the U.S. government warned that styrene may cause cancer but completely downplayed the risks to consumers. Instead, they focused on the risks for those who work with the chemical in manufacturing plants.
That’s seven years spent ignoring that a chemical found in all kinds of plastics we use every day!
To protect yourself and your loved ones, avoid Styrofoam cups and plastic containers labeled with the number 6 recycling logo.
When shopping for groceries, avoid items wrapped in non-polystyrene materials.
