So-Called “Health Food” WRECKING Your Brain?

Steven enjoyed diet sodas every day for years.

“What’s the harm?” he asked himself. “There are no calories, right?”

Well, that couldn’t have been further from the truth.

As it turns out, the so-called “healthier” alternative to regular soda does more damage than you may realize.

By his mid-60s, Steven had early signs of dementia. And by his early 70s, his children had to move him into a home.

And it looks like all those diet sodas are to blame.

Shocking research, known as the Framingham Heart Study Offspring cohort, has revealed that even modest consumption of artificially sweetened sodas can result in a major increase in dementia, Alzheimer’s, and stroke risk.

The study included 4,372 seniors who were consuming at least one can or bottle of artificially sweetened soda per day.

The results showed nearly TRIPLE the risk of dementia and stroke!

Why? Well, aside from containing toxic chemicals, these sweeteners act just like sugar in your body.

And we know that high blood sugar can trigger dementia, stroke, and lots of other diseases.

While this was the first study to examine the direct link between artificial sweeteners and dementia, it is not the first to reveal the risks of artificially sweetened beverages.

The Northern Manhattan Study showed that the consumption of artificially sweetened soft drinks was linked to an increased risk of heart problems.

And the Nurses’ Health Study and Health Professionals Follow-Up Study showed that sodas are associated with higher risk of stroke and high blood pressure.

But that’s not all…

Sugar substitutes are actually known to promote unhealthy eating habits and weight gain.

Seems counter-intuitive, right?

You see, according to research from Harvard Medical School, artificial sweeteners distort our natural sense of sweet and unsweet.

Consuming artificial sweeteners warps our enjoyment of healthy fruits and vegetables because we crave that artificial super-sweet taste.

And these sweeteners lurk in more than just soft drinks. Artificial sweeteners are also used in sugarless chewing gum, flavored water, salad dressing, frozen yogurt, and fruit juices.

If you or a loved one are indulging in artificially sweetened snacks and sodas, it’s time to make a change.

Luckily, there are tons of non-toxic, low-calorie natural sweeteners to choose from!

A favorite alternative is stevia, which is not only a natural sugar substitute but also have antioxidant effects and can help regulate blood pressure and blood sugar.
