Sadly, that’s not true. Actually, many Asian restaurants were among the first to ban the stuff.
In reality, MSG is in lot of places you wouldn’t expect.
From Doritos and Pringles to Campbell’s soups and fast food, it’s not easy to avoid MSG – especially because labels don’t always call it by name.
Here’s how to protect yourself and your loved ones from the dangers of MSG:
- Always check labels – sometimes MSG is listed as hydrolyzed vegetable protein, yeast extract, soy extract, or hydrolyzed yeast extract.
- Avoid processed foods, salty snacks (chips, nuts, etc.), ramen noodles, and frozen dinners.
- Be cautious when you go out to eat (heavy salad dressings, seasoned fries, breaded meat, and pasta sauces often have MSG).
- Always opt for organic produce and natural ingredients.
