Researchers from Temple University’s Lewis Katz School of Medicine studied two groups of mice – one with an EVOO-enriched diet and one without.

They found that the mice who got EVOO had better memories and were able to process more information, faster.

The primary ingredient in EVOO is oleic acid, which stimulates the production of a molecule that prevents damage to brain cells.

It’s even been shown to prevent cancerous proteins from forming in the brain, as well.

Additionally, the olive oil reduces inflammation in the brain and activates what’s known as the autophagy process.

That’s where the brain is able to cleanse itself of toxins and debris that can cause chronic conditions like Alzheimer’s.

Senior investigator Domenico Pratico is already setting up new experiments in order to learn more about the best way for patients to benefit from the remarkable properties of EVOO.

“We want to know whether olive oil added at a later time point in the diet can stop or reverse the disease,” he said.

But, really, there’s no reason to wait to put the wonders of EVOO to work for you.
