Daily Brew CONQUERS Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria
Imagine being sick.
Maybe the sickest you’ve ever felt.
And no drug can help you.
Well, that’s the upcoming reality of the world we live in. Antibiotic-resistant bacteria are causing deadly infections that no mainstream drug can touch.
And it’s all the mainstream’s fault.
They hand out antibiotics like candy for ailments they can never cure. And this causes these dangerous pathogens to build resistance to our drugs and become superbugs.
But there’s one way to can put a STOP to this mutant bacteria, and it all comes down to a cup of this.
Researchers from the University of Surrey in England found a secret weapon in the war against superbugs.
In a new study, they found that epigallocatechin (EGCG) – a natural antioxidant found in green tea – can DESTROY antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
EGCG can strengthen and even restore the effectiveness of antibiotics that became ineffective to certain bacteria.
Because antibiotics are usually the number one treatment for bacterial infections, these antibiotic-resistant, mutant bugs are a MAJOR problem.
For example, pseudomonas aeruginosa (a bacterium that causes serious respiratory tract and bloodstream infections) is now being treated with a COMBINATION of antibiotics because it’s becoming increasingly harder to stop.
Researchers found that EGCG can restore aztreonam (an antibiotic to treat P. aeruginosa) and get rid of the bacteria.
In the study, they conducted in vitro tests that looked at how both aztreonam and EGCG responded to P. aeruginosa both separately and combined.
They found that the combination of the two was by far more effective at lowering the bacteria numbers than alone.
If that’s not reason enough to brew a cup, green tea has all kinds of other health benefits.
It’s loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that are great for your body from fighting colds to lowering your risk of cancer.
And it contains polyphenols that reduce inflammation and other compounds that help fight cell damage and reduce free radicals in your body (which play a role in aging and all other kinds of diseases).
You can find green tea just about anywhere, from Walmart to your local grocery store. And if you’re already sick, you may want to start boiling some hot water and steep some sooner rather than later.
