For the study, published by the American Heart Association, researchers analyzed heart conditions and death rates of 81,714 senior women.
After ten years, the scientists found that women who drank two or more diet drinks a dayincreased their risks for:
- Stroke by 31 percent
- Heart disease by 29 percent
- Premature death by 16 percent.
Even worse? Women with no prior history of heart disease or diabetes were TWICE AS LIKELY to suffer a stroke if they regularly drank diet soda.
And the risks don’t stop there…
Drinking diet soda has also been linked to diabetes, depression and anxiety, and even obesity.
So, if you or a loved one is a frequent diet soda drinker, it’s time to CUT IT OUT!
While refined sugar is by no means healthy, artificial sweeteners are even worse.
Instead of sodas, try flavored sparkling water with a slice of orange or pineapple to keep yourself hydrated while getting that sweetness you crave.
