8 Deadly Warning Signs You Should NEVER Ignore!
People talk about listening to your gut.
But you should also be listening to the rest of your body.
Because it’s always talking to you. It’s giving you clues—and sometimes outright flashing neon signs—that something is wrong and needs immediate attention.
It’s easy to overlook these signs… or to take an OTC drug to cover them up.
But these are eight potentially deadly symptoms you should never ignore.
This one is probably the most well-known—and for a good reason. Squeezing, pressure, or tightness—especially if it’s accompanied by pain shooting down one of your arms—is a classic sign of a heart attack.
Sudden Leg Pain
Leg pain can be a sign of something simple like a magnesium deficiency—but it can also indicate a potentially deadly blood clot. If a blood clot breaks off and travels to your lungs, it’s called a deep vein thrombosis (DVT), and it can be deadly. If the pain appears suddenly and is accompanied by swelling and shortness of breath, call your doctor right away.
Sudden Numbness or Speech Problems
If you notice numbness or weakness—especially on one side of your body—call 911 right away. This is one of the first signs of a stroke, and the faster you get treated, the better your prognosis.
A sudden, intense headache can be a sign of an aneurysm or burst blood vessel in the brain. Seek immediate help.
Unexplained Weight Loss
Most of us would love to lose weight without trying. But if you’ve lost 5% of your body weight in the past six months—for no apparent reason—it could be a sign of cancer.
If you find yourself seeing “stars”—tiny specs or flashing lights—it could be an indication of a retinal tear or detachment of the eye. The faster you get it treated, the better your chances of preventing permanent vision loss.
With the prevalence of gum disease, bleeding gums might seem like a common, minor problem. In reality, bleeding gums could be a sign of leukemia, since these individuals bleed more readily. If your bleeding gums are accompanied by fatigue, nose bleeds, fever, and night sweats, it’s time to talk to your doctor.
If your hair starts to look striped—and you haven’t been to the salon for highlights—pay attention. Striped hair can be a sign of a lack of dietary protein or iron, which can indicate ulcerative colitis or irritable bowel syndrome.
If you or a loved one has of these eight symptoms, don’t hesitate to get immediate medical help.
